Firmware updating of the interface board for the slave field bus can be provided by uploading the file containing the desired firmware to the microSD.
At switch on of the control, it is checked that, with the board enabled by hardware configuration(RHW.CFG), the firmware of the Fieldbus slave interface corresponds to the firmware on the microSD of the control; if there is any difference in the type of interface or firmware version, the upgrade of the firmware to the version on the microSD will be automatically commanded.
From RTE version 34.25.2 and Bios 3.2.0, it is possible to upgrade the firmware for functioning as a Profinet node, and from RTE version 34.30.0 and Bios 3.4.2, it is possible to upgrade the firmware for functioning as an EtherCAT node.
The upgrade procedure can take up to 3 minutes.
WARNING: It is imperative not to turn off the control during this step, otherwise there is the possibility of irreparable damage to the fieldbus slave interface board.
The unfolding of the firmware loading procedure is indicated on the control display and by the flashing of the FB-S S and FB-S E LEDs (green -> red -> yellow sequence).
The firmware file must be placed in the FW_DIR (default /F@/) or USER_DIR (default /FA/) folder.
Currently 2 firmwares are available for use depending on the desired Fieldbus type:
Fieldbus Type |
Firmware File Name |
---|---|
PROFINET |
Fbs_pnet.eef |
EtherCAT |
Fbs_ecat.eef |
The two files can be present at the same time of the microSD, it will then be the hardware configuration of the control that will determine the functioning of the interface and possibly install the correct firmware.
If the Fieldbus type is not changed, it is not necessary to have the FBS*.eef files always present in the microSD.
