With RP-0 and RP-2, if RTE needs an update or operating system on sd card is corrupted, the procedures to be taken are as follows:
Recommended and quick procedure
If you have a microSD card reader, simply replace the rte_arm_a9_vv-rr-b.bin file in the /f@/ folder with the one containing the updated version.
Recommended but slow procedure
This procedure assumes that the RTE firmware to be updated is active on the control.
•From the RDE shell load the new firmware using the command:
FLOAD drive:\path\rte_arm_a9_vv-rr-b.bin /f@/
•Delete the old firmware using the command:
FDEL /f@/ rte_arm_a9_vv-rr-b.bin
(The command will be honored because the previous RTE is still present in SDRAM)
Emergency procedure
•Establish a serial connection on the SER2 port using a type-B usb cable
•Turn on the motion control WITH the microSD card inserted by holding down the joystick button and wait until the display reads 'OSE Diagnostic - please release'
•Using the joystick buttons select the menu item 'PC communication' and press 'Select' to enter the 'OSE-PC communication' mode screen
•Launch the RDE program and send from the shell tool the following command:
FLOAD -main rte_arm_a9_vv-rr-b.bin
•Wait for the end of loading by verifying that the operation is completed correctly, if not, send the command again
•At the end of the procedure, RTE will be loaded into the QSPI flash memory
•Use the 'Recovery MAIN' procedure to run RTE from Flash QSPI:
o Move with the joystick to this menu from which you can run a recovery Main software pre-loaded in the QSPI Flash memory by selecting the command 'Load' and then 'Run'
•With RTE running and serial it will be possible to copy the file to the microSD card via the command:
FLOAD drive:\path\ rte_arm_a9_vv-rr-b.bin /f@/
•To communicate over Ethernet port instead, see procedure for setting address
•At this point at the next switch on, the RTE operating system will be loaded.
NOTE: Use the SYSINFO command or D VE from the RDE shell to view the current version of RTE.
NOTE: RTE versions are contained in the RDE installation directory, subdirectory ..\ETC\RTE\FIRMWARE.
