This command allows the interested file to be opened, directly from the shell, in the appropriate editor: if the file does not exist, it is created new in memory.

Syntax

EDIT [<filename>]

And [<filename>]

<filename>

Name of the desired file.

Notes

The command is not available when executed in a batch file.

If the file name is not specified, a file selection prompt window will be displayed: select the desired file then press the Open button (or hotkey Return) to confirm, or the Cancel button (or hotkey Esc).

Editor type selection is done automatically by examining the file name extension. For more information, see RDE's general documentation onopening an existing file with type "All Files."
