This Version has been retired and should no longer be used..

WARNING: Projects (contained in workspaces) now have a different format than previous versions of RDE3. Once the workspace is converted, it is no longer compatible with previous versions of RDE3: it is therefore recommended to make a copy of the workspace and related files before opening it.

This Version introduces a considerable amount of new performance, enhancements, and paves the way for additional development tools that will be available in future versions of RDE3.

General

Real/time oscilloscope (OSC extension)

Real/time monitor (MON extension)

Load/save variables (LSVAR extension)

Real/time graphical panel (PAN extension)

Command Shell (SHELL extension)

New ASCII connection over RS232 (ASCRS232 extension)

HW DSP56 support (DSP56 extension)

Internal ascii editor (AEDITOR extension)

R project and debugger (RRT extension)

General

Fixed general floating point value formatting: now values greater than 9e14, or when automatic precision (-1) is set, are automatically displayed in exponential format; alternatively non-exponential format is used with any required precision.

Added recent file management (very similar to recent workspace management) for each individual workspace: options and management for these, is available within workspace settings.

Updated workspace object creation dialog: now highlights that the default workspace is NOT saveable (in case you use it, of course) and hides objects that cannot be created in it.

General Italian language fixes and complete update of all English language translations (US/EN standard).

Real/time oscilloscope (OSC extension).

Implemented new trace setting to allow traces to be displayed in the measurement area independent of the display in the graph.

Updated trace ID box graphics to reflect the state of activation/display, of the trace itself, on graph and/or measurements.

Fix mouse handling bug on dragging horizontal and vertical measurement bars.

Fix formatting floating point values (details in general news).

Added value offset for single trace (in addition to video offset % already present in previous Version).

Added ability to set offset value per track manually based on current value on vertical measure bars V1 and V2.

Added possibility to change track offset while dragging zero track handle (by pressing ALT key): for each mouse move, offset changed is 10% of value/division.

Added hook up (hook up) offset mode for each individual track, on vertical measurement bars V1 and/or V2: when a vertical bar is dragged by pressing CTRL, the offsets of all tracks, with hook up defined for that bar, are automatically updated to the corresponding vertical measurement value (also conventionally called offset tracking).

Added auto scrolling time base when vertical measure bars, as they are dragged, come close to the side edges.

Added information about graphic settings and general colors on oscilloscope binary data import/export functions.

At the moment the oscilloscope window is closed, trace data (storage and pre/trigger) are deleted, without any confirmation request. This is intended to reduce the amount of memory used, which, due to programmable storage size and unlimited n. of definable oscilloscopes, is likely to become large especially unused.

Real/time monitor (MON extension)

Fix formatting floating point values (details in general news).

For consistency with the change to oscilloscope storage, values of monitor variables are also canceled, when the corresponding window is closed.

Load/save variables (LSVAR extension)

Fix formatting floating point values (details in general news).

Real/time graph panel (PAN extension)

Fix formatting floating point values (details in general news).

For consistency with the change to oscilloscope storage, the values of various panel items are also canceled, when the relevant window is closed.

Graphical restyling of the property list, with the aim of increasing both readability and ease of use.

Shell commands (SHELL extension)

Fix formatting floating point values (details in general news).

New ASCII connection on RS232 (ASCRS232 extension).

In order to simplify the software structure and user use, the part regarding ASCII translation of the BCC protocol has been removed from the BCC31RS232 extension and moved to the new ASCRS232 extension, which reimplements it in a better way.

The only problem that arises, when reopening an old workspace, is the loss of connections on RS232 configured in ASCII translation mode that are reconfigured ex officio to direct BCC.

It will therefore be necessary to recreate the required ASCII connections using the new connection type.

DSP56 HW Support (DSP56 extension).

Specific connections for DSP56 have been removed, as these devices by directly implementing the BCC/31 protocol do not require specific connections.

Updated variables factory for DSP56 which can now directly read symbols (for built-in variables) from an .ELF file, configured directly from the workspace settings: the factory still keeps track of the .ELF file which as soon as it changes its symbols are reloaded (at the time the variables dictionary is requested for that platform).

Internal ascii editor (AEDITOR extension).

Implemented option to disable automatic indentation on a per-configuration basis.

Fix bug using keys from numeric pad (insert type not reporting INS/OVR mode change), cursor keys, etc.

Fix bug reporting wrong row/column no.

R project and debugger (RRT extension).

The R project manager, and related debugger, have been completely overhauled, both graphically and functionally, with the purpose of both improving its usability and accommodating new features coming in future versions (e.g., ladder programs for PLCs).

PLEASE NOTE: The project now has a different format than previous versions of RDE3.

When opening the workspace, the contained R projects are automatically converted to the new Version but if you then try to reuse the same workspace with earlier versions (to 3.00-R90) there is a RISK OF LOSS OF DATA/INFORMATION contained in it.

For the same reason a warning has been introduced, for the use of future versions to which a similar thing happens, that warns when you are loading a workspace generated/created by a higher Version of RDE3.

The terminology used in the project has also been adapted, viz:

task R on disk is now denoted by the term R program;

task R running on module is now denoted by the term process R.

Revised system of file enablement, and in general of related general project make/rebuild operations, with the following requests added:

single flash file make/rebuild operations.

single flash file load operation

single flash program load operation

direct opening of file listing and/or errors from flash program

other minor

Revised project graphics (flash and programs) to make all information more visible, with emphasis on paths and location of various files used.

Fix various bugs reported in previous versions
