It is a global window that allows you to perform content searches in files, whether project, workspace or other locations.

To display it (or hide it if already visible), select the View/Find in files window command from the menu (or hotkey Ctrl+Shift+F).

NOTE: Search results are persistent, that is, they are saved/reloaded within the specific workspace.

TIP: For performance issues, it is recommended to keep only those searches that are actually useful, as they may be quite burdensome during the workspace loading phases.

Operations

In the file search window, the available operations are as follows:

Start search (or hotkey Enter on the search field), to start a new search with the latest settings.

Clear search list (or hotkey Shift+Del), to clear all the contents of the search results.

Settings (or hotkey Shift+F7), to change the settings for the next search.

For each search performed, the following operations are available:

Edit (or hotkey Shift+Enter ), to change search-specific settings.

Delete (or hotkey Del), to remove an individual file from the search result.

Repeat (or hotkey Ctrl+R), to repeat the search with specific settings (in this case all results are automatically removed).

For each file in the search result, the following operations are available:

Activate (or hotkey Enter), to open the corresponding file (in the appropriate editor) at the beginning of the file.

Delete (or hotkey Del), to remove an individual file from the search result.

The following operations are available for each file tag in the search result:

Activate (or hotkey Enter), to open the file corresponding (in the appropriate editor) to the specified tag if possible, otherwise at the beginning of the file.

NOTE: Although the window is always available, file search functionality is only available when there is an open workspace.

Quick search

To perform a quick search, specify the text to be searched then press the Start Search button.

Normal Search

Check the settings, compared to the last search performed, by pressing the Settings... button.

Confirmed the settings, specify the text to search then press the Start Search button.

Search Results

Once the search is complete, a row with results of the specific search "Results 'xxx' will appear in the window, under which any files and all related matches found for the search performed will be listed.

To access the file , select the file of interest and from the context menu select Activate (or double-click on the item).

To access a specific match in the file , select the match and from context menu select Activate (or double-click on the item).

Search Repeats.

Select the row with results of the specific search "Results 'xxx'," then select Repeat.

Any results that may be present will be removed before the search is restarted.
